Pseudomugil furcatus

Pseudomugil furcatus

The fork-tailed blueeye is a very beautiful swimming freshwater fish. When keeping them, care should always be taken to ensure that there are always more females than males in the aquarium. The males of these schools of fish are very aggressive towards females during the breeding season. Their courtship displays make them some of the most attractive blue-eyed dogs in pet stores.

An aquarium with a capacity of at least 80 liters can easily accommodate up to 10 animals. Pools should have dim lighting and plenty of vegetation. This creates an opportunity for the animal to retreat. However, the swimming space of the forked mullet should not be restricted.

Forktail bluefish should have a pH in the 6.0 to 7.5 range and a hardness range of 5 to 15° dGH. The water temperature should be 24 to 30 degrees Celsius.

Pseudomugil can be adapted to frozen foods. However, fish prefer good quality live food such as water fleas or mosquito larvae.
