Cyrtocara moorii
Common name: Blue Dolphin Cichlid
Origin: Africa (found in Lake Tanganyika, primarily in rocky and sandy areas of the lake, especially in the central and southern regions)
Optimal living conditions: 24 - 28 °C temperature
7.5 - 9.0 pH
300 l+ sized aquarium
Adult fish size: 20 - 30 cm
Diet: Feed a varied diet of high-quality cichlid pellets, flakes, and occasional live or frozen foods like brine shrimp, bloodworms, and krill. Cyrtocara moorii are omnivores, and in their natural habitat, they feed on algae and small invertebrates, so including vegetable matter in their diet is beneficial.
Tankmates: Blue Dolphin Cichlids are relatively peaceful compared to many other cichlids, but they are still best kept with other African cichlids that can tolerate their temperament. Suitable tankmates include other Tanganyikan cichlids, such as those from the genus Neolamprologus and smaller species of Synodontis catfish. They can be territorial, especially during breeding, so provide plenty of hiding spots.
