Garra flavatra
Common name: Red-Finned Garra
Origin: Southeast Asia (found in rivers and streams of Myanmar, particularly in fast-flowing waters)
Optimal living conditions: 22 - 28 °C temperature
7.0 - 8.0 pH
100 l+ sized aquarium
Adult fish size: 8 - 10 cm
Diet: Garra flavatra are primarily herbivorous and should be fed a varied diet including algae wafers, high-quality pellets, and live or frozen foods like brine shrimp and daphnia. They will also graze on biofilm and algae in the tank, so adding natural vegetation to the aquarium can help provide foraging opportunities.
Tankmates: Peaceful species such as tetras, rasboras, and small catfish. Garra flavatra are social fish and should be kept in groups of 4 or more. They are active and need space to swim, making them suitable for larger community tanks. Avoid keeping them with aggressive or much larger fish.
