Origin: South America (native to the Rio Orinoco basin in Venezuela and parts of Brazil)
Optimal living conditions: 24 - 28 °C temperature
6.0 - 7.5 pH
80 l+ sized aquarium
Adult fish size: 4 - 5 cm
Diet: Hemigrammus stictus are omnivores and thrive on a varied diet of high-quality flake food, small pellets, and live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp, bloodworms, and daphnia. They also appreciate plant-based foods like spirulina and blanched vegetables such as spinach and zucchini.
Tankmates: Peaceful species such as other tetras, rasboras, small barbs, and other community fish. These are schooling fish and should be kept in groups of 6 or more to feel secure and reduce stress. Avoid keeping them with aggressive species or large, predatory fish.
Note: Spotfin Tetras are known for their attractive pattern of dark spots and stripes on their fins, making them a visually appealing addition to community tanks. They are active and peaceful, enjoying well-planted aquariums with plenty of swimming space and hiding spots. Keeping them in schools enhances their natural behavior and reduces stress.
