Diet: Heros severus are omnivores and will thrive on a varied diet of high-quality pellets, flakes, and live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp, bloodworms, and daphnia. They also appreciate plant-based foods, including spirulina, blanched vegetables like zucchini, and occasional fruits.

Tankmates: Heros severus can be kept with other peaceful to semi-aggressive species, such as larger tetras, peaceful cichlids, catfish, and some larger barbs. They are best kept in a spacious tank, as they can become territorial. It’s best to avoid aggressive or overly small fish, as they may be bullied or become prey.
