Diet: Metriaclima greshakei is primarily herbivorous, although it may occasionally consume small invertebrates or zooplankton in the wild. In captivity, they should be fed a high-quality cichlid pellet or flake food designed for herbivores. Supplementing their diet with spirulina, algae wafers, and blanched vegetables like spinach or zucchini will help keep them healthy. They may also appreciate occasional protein-based foods like brine shrimp or bloodworms. A varied diet is key to maintaining their vibrant colors and overall health.

Tankmates: Greshake's Cichlid is an aggressive species typical of many Malawi cichlids. They are best kept in a species-only tank or with other similar-sized, aggressive fish that can hold their own. Other Mbuna species, like Metriaclima (formerly Pseudotropheus) or Labidochromis species, may make suitable tankmates, but care should be taken to avoid keeping them with small, peaceful fish or slow-moving species that might become targets for aggression. As territorial fish, they will need plenty of space, hiding spots, and structured rockwork to establish their territories.

Note: Metriaclima greshakei, also known as Greshake's Cichlid, is a vibrant, colorful Mbuna species from Lake Malawi, easily recognized by its bright blue coloration, especially in males, with a slight yellow or orange tint on the fins and body. Males typically show more intense coloration compared to females. They are a hardy species but require an aquarium with excellent water quality, plenty of hiding places, and ample swimming space. As with other Malawi cichlids, they thrive in slightly alkaline water and do well in well-maintained, stable environments with regular water changes.
