Microdevario kubotai
Common name: Kubotai Rasbora
Origin: Myanmar (native to small streams and rivers in the southeastern region)
Optimal living conditions: 22 - 28 °C temperature
6.0 - 7.5 pH
60 l+ sized aquarium
Adult fish size: 3 - 4 cm
Diet: Microdevario kubotai is an omnivorous species and thrives on a varied diet. They should be fed high-quality flake foods, micro pellets, and live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, and microworms. They also enjoy plant-based foods like finely chopped vegetables and algae-based products. A balanced diet with plenty of variety will help keep them healthy and enhance their coloration.
Tankmates: Kubotai Rasboras are peaceful and social fish that do well in community tanks with other small, peaceful species. They are great tankmates for species like tetras, dwarf gouramis, Corydoras, and other non-aggressive fish. Due to their small size, they should not be kept with larger, more aggressive species. It’s best to keep them in schools of at least 6 individuals to encourage natural schooling behavior and to reduce stress. They prefer a tank with some plants, driftwood, and hiding spots but still plenty of open space to swim in.
Note: Microdevario kubotai, or the Kubotai Rasbora, is a small and colorful species, recognized for its vibrant red and orange hues with black markings along its body. This species is a great choice for aquarists who enjoy peaceful and active schooling fish. Their small size and striking appearance make them a wonderful addition to well-planted aquariums, where they can swim in the mid to upper levels. They are hardy and easy to care for, making them a good choice for beginner aquarists.
