Diet: Neolamprologus brichardi is omnivorous. They accept a variety of foods, including high-quality cichlid pellets, flake foods, and live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms. Supplementing their diet with some vegetable matter like spirulina or algae-based foods is also beneficial. A varied diet will support their health and vibrant coloration.

Tankmates: Brichard’s Cichlid is territorial, especially when breeding, so it’s best to house them with other species that can tolerate their assertive nature. They do well with other peaceful cichlids, particularly those from Lake Tanganyika, like Julidochromis species, and other robust community fish. They should be kept in pairs or small groups, as they are social fish that live in family groups in the wild. Providing plenty of hiding spots and rocky structures in the tank is crucial for their well-being.
