Origin: Native to freshwater and brackish streams in Southeast Asia, primarily found in Indonesia and the Philippines.

Adult fish size: 4 - 5 cm

Diet: Omnivore. In the wild, Stiphodon ornatus feeds on algae, biofilm, detritus, and small invertebrates. In captivity, they thrive on a varied diet, including high-quality sinking pellets, algae wafers, and blanched vegetables like spinach, zucchini, or spirulina. They also enjoy live or frozen foods like brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms. Offering a diverse diet that includes plant material and protein will keep them healthy and active.

Tankmates: Peaceful. Stiphodon ornatus is a peaceful species that does well in a community aquarium with other small, non-aggressive fish. Ideal tankmates include peaceful species such as small tetras, rasboras, and other non-territorial gobies. They do not do well with larger or more aggressive species that might outcompete them for food. It's also recommended to keep them in groups of 3 or more, as they are social fish and feel more secure in a group.
