Sundadanio axelrodi
Common name: Axelrod's Rasbora or Axelrod's Sundadanio
Origin: Found in freshwater streams and rivers in Borneo, Southeast Asia.
Optimal living conditions:
- Temperature: 24 - 28 °C
- pH: 6.0 - 7.5
- Aquarium size: 40 liters+ (for a small group)
Adult fish size: 2 - 3 cm
Diet: Omnivorous. Sundadanio axelrodi feeds on a wide range of foods, including small live or frozen foods like brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms. They will also readily accept high-quality flake food, micro pellets, and finely crushed algae wafers. A varied diet with protein and plant-based foods will help keep them healthy and active.
Tankmates: Peaceful. These tiny fish are peaceful and social, making them ideal for a community tank with other small, peaceful species such as tetras, dwarf rasboras, or small catfish. They thrive in groups of at least 6 individuals and feel more secure in a school. Because of their small size, they should not be kept with larger or aggressive fish that could outcompete them for food or harass them.
Note: Sundadanio axelrodi is a tiny, beautiful fish known for its vibrant coloration and active nature. Despite their small size, these rasboras are active swimmers, often seen darting about in the middle and upper levels of the tank. Their bright red and orange hues, with a touch of metallic sheen, make them a striking addition to any aquarium. These fish are best kept in aquariums with live plants and small hiding places, which will make them feel secure. They prefer moderate to strong water flow and need well-oxygenated water to thrive. They are also excellent candidates for aquascaped tanks, as they enjoy dense vegetation and swimming through the plants.
Note: This small chart is only the basics and is not enough for you to decide if this fish is right for you! Do your own detailed research before buying!!
