Barbus tetrazona
Common name: Tiger Barb
Origin: Southeast Asia (primarily Borneo, Sumatra, and the Malay Peninsula)
Optimal living conditions: 22 - 28 °C temperature
6.0 - 7.5 pH
80 l+ sized aquarium
Adult fish size: 5 - 7 cm
Diet: Feed high-quality flakes, pellets, and occasional live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp, bloodworms, or daphnia. They are omnivores and enjoy plant-based foods as well.
Tankmates: While Tiger Barbs are generally peaceful, they can be nippy and aggressive, especially with slow-moving or long-finned species. They do well in schools of 6 or more and are best kept with other active fish like tetras, rasboras, or danios. Avoid keeping with long-finned species, as they may become targets for fin-nipping.
