Origin: South America (widely distributed in the Amazon River basin, particularly in Brazil, Peru, and Colombia)

Diet: Feed a varied diet of high-quality sinking pellets, flakes, and occasional live or frozen foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp, and daphnia. Corydoras aeneus are omnivores and will also consume detritus, algae, and other small particles from the substrate.
Tankmates: Peaceful species such as tetras, rasboras, and small catfish. Corydoras aeneus are social fish and do best when kept in groups of 6 or more. They are bottom dwellers and fit well in community tanks with other peaceful fish. Avoid keeping with aggressive or large species that may intimidate or outcompete them for food.
