Origin: North and Central America (found in freshwater and brackish waters, particularly in Mexico, the southern United States, and parts of Central America)

Adult fish size: 6 - 8 cm (up to 12 cm for larger varieties)

Diet: Molly fish are omnivores and should be fed a varied diet of high-quality flakes, pellets, and occasional live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp, bloodworms, and daphnia. They also enjoy algae and plant matter, so providing some greens in their diet is beneficial.

Tankmates: Peaceful and active species such as tetras, guppies, and platies. Molly fish are social and should be kept in groups, ideally with a higher number of females to prevent aggression from males. They can also tolerate slightly brackish water, so they do well in community tanks that replicate this environment. Avoid aggressive or large species that may stress them.
