Diet: Hemichromis exsul are omnivores. Feed them a balanced diet of high-quality cichlid pellets, flakes, and occasional live or frozen foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp, and daphnia. They will also consume algae wafers and blanched vegetables like spinach or zucchini.

Tankmates: Semi-aggressive species like other medium-sized cichlids, robust barbs, or larger tetras. Avoid housing them with very small or delicate fish, as they can become territorial, especially during breeding. Provide ample hiding spots with rocks, driftwood, and caves to reduce aggression.

Note: Turkana Jewel Cichlids are beautiful but territorial, particularly when breeding. They are best kept in a species-only tank or with similarly sized, hardy fish. Careful attention to water quality and tank setup is essential.
