Common name: Lifelili Jewel Cichlid
Origin: Central Africa (native to rivers and lakes in the Congo Basin, particularly in the Democratic Republic of Congo)
Optimal living conditions: 24 - 28 °C temperature
6.5 - 7.5 pH
150 l+ sized aquarium
Adult fish size: 10 - 15 cm
Diet: Hemichromis lifalili are omnivores and should be fed a varied diet of high-quality cichlid pellets, flakes, and live or frozen foods like brine shrimp, bloodworms, and daphnia. They also enjoy plant-based foods like spirulina or blanched vegetables such as zucchini, spinach, and peas.
Tankmates: Semi-aggressive species such as larger tetras, barbs, or other robust cichlids. They can be territorial, especially during breeding, so it’s best to provide plenty of hiding spaces and rocky areas. Avoid housing them with smaller or peaceful species that may become stressed or preyed upon.
Note: Lifelili Jewel Cichlids are known for their striking coloration and active nature. They are best suited for more experienced aquarists due to their territorial behavior and need for a well-maintained tank with ample space.
