Common name: Bleher’s Tetra
Origin: South America (native to the Rio Negro and Rio Orinoco river basins in Brazil and Venezuela)
Optimal living conditions: 24 - 28 °C temperature
6.0 - 7.5 pH
80 l+ sized aquarium
Adult fish size: 4 - 5 cm
Diet: Hemigrammus bleheri are omnivores and will thrive on a diet of high-quality flakes, small pellets, and occasional live or frozen foods like brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms. They also appreciate plant-based foods such as spirulina or blanched vegetables like zucchini.
Tankmates: Peaceful species such as other tetras, rasboras, small barbs, and peaceful community fish. They are schooling fish and should be kept in groups of at least 6 or more to feel secure and reduce stress. Avoid housing them with aggressive fish or large, predatory species.
Note: Bleher’s Tetra is a peaceful and attractive addition to a community aquarium. They do best in a well-planted tank with plenty of swimming space and some hiding spots. Their shimmering appearance makes them a stunning species for aquarists who enjoy beautiful, active schooling fish.
