Optimal living conditions: 24 - 28 °C temperature
6.0 - 7.5 pH
80 l+ sized aquarium
Adult fish size: 3.5 - 4 cm
Diet: Hyphessobrycon flammeus are omnivores and thrive on a varied diet. They should be fed high-quality flake food, small pellets, and live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp, bloodworms, and daphnia. They also enjoy plant-based foods like spirulina and blanched vegetables such as spinach, zucchini, and peas.
Tankmates: These tetras are peaceful and do well with other small, peaceful species such as rasboras, other tetras, small cichlids, and catfish. They should be kept in schools of 6 or more to promote their natural schooling behavior and reduce stress. Avoid keeping them with larger, more aggressive fish.
Note: Hyphessobrycon flammeus is known for its vibrant orange-red coloration, which resembles a flame, making it a striking addition to any community aquarium. These tetras are active and peaceful, and they thrive in well-planted aquariums with plenty of swimming space. Like most tetras, they are best kept in groups, where they will feel secure and display their natural behavior.
