Diet: Julidochromis dickfeldi are carnivores and primarily feed on small invertebrates in the wild. In captivity, they should be offered high-quality cichlid pellets, live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp, bloodworms, and daphnia. They can also eat small fish or crustaceans and should be supplemented with occasional plant matter such as algae or spirulina to ensure a balanced diet.

Tankmates: These cichlids are territorial, especially during breeding. They do best in species-specific tanks or with other peaceful Lake Tanganyika cichlids that are similarly sized, such as Neolamprologus or Cyprichromis species. Keeping them with other aggressive fish may result in territorial disputes. It's best to house them in pairs or small groups, but be mindful of their need for space and hiding spots.
