Knodus borki
Common name: Bork's Knodus
Origin: South America (native to the Rio Orinoco basin in Venezuela and parts of Colombia)
Optimal living conditions: 24 - 28 °C temperature
6.0 - 7.5 pH
80 l+ sized aquarium
Adult fish size: 6 - 8 cm
Diet: Knodus borki are omnivores. In captivity, they can be fed a varied diet of high-quality flake food, small pellets, and live or frozen foods like brine shrimp, bloodworms, and daphnia. They also enjoy plant-based foods, such as algae and spirulina, and occasional vegetables like blanched spinach or zucchini. A balanced diet with both animal and plant-based foods will keep them healthy and vibrant.
Tankmates: These fish are peaceful but can be somewhat shy. They do well with other peaceful community fish such as tetras, rasboras, and smaller catfish. Avoid keeping them with larger or aggressive species that may intimidate or outcompete them for food. Knodus borki should be kept in schools of at least 6 individuals to reduce stress and encourage natural schooling behavior.
Note: Knodus borki is an attractive species with a slender body, vibrant coloration, and distinct patterning. They have a pale body with red or orange highlights, especially along their fins, and subtle dark markings along their sides. These fish are active swimmers and do best in a well-planted aquarium with plenty of swimming space and hiding spots. A soft substrate and gentle filtration are ideal to mimic their natural environment.
