Diet: Kryptopterus vitreolus are omnivores and prefer a diet rich in protein. In captivity, they can be fed high-quality flake food, small pellets, and live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp, bloodworms, and daphnia. They may also accept vegetable matter like spirulina, blanched spinach, and algae-based foods. It’s important to provide a varied diet to ensure they receive all the necessary nutrients.

Tankmates: Glass catfish are peaceful, schooling fish and should be kept in groups of at least 5 to 6 individuals to thrive. They do well with other peaceful species, such as tetras, rasboras, and other small community fish. However, avoid keeping them with larger or aggressive species that could stress or harm them. Since they are somewhat delicate and sensitive, they should not be housed with boisterous or fin-nipping fish.

Note: Kryptopterus vitreolus is known for its transparent body, which gives it the appearance of a "glass" fish. This unique feature makes them quite fascinating to observe, as their internal organs and skeletal structure are visible. They are somewhat shy and enjoy hiding among plants or other structures, so be sure to provide plenty of hiding spots in the aquarium.
