Each root is slightly different, has a unique structure and shape. It gives shelter in shade, and is also a perfect hiding place.

The mangrove root slightly colours the water - it is a characteristic feature of the root, but it does not release any harmful substances and is completely safe for fish and reptiles.
Fibrous substances supplied by the mangrove roots help the algae eaters to develop properly. Their common feature is their resistance to water destructive impact. Mangrove roots are especially suitable for larger aquariums where massive fragments can be used. They are heavy and usually sink immediately. In the initial period after setting up the tank, numerous water changes and intensive water filtration with frequently replaced active carbon filters are therefore necessary. 
The root can be washed or brushed before use (but cannot be boiled!) and then left in the water container for several days. Change the water daily until it is completely clean.
