Tankmates: The Multibanded Cichlid is a peaceful yet territorial species, especially when breeding. While they are relatively small, they will defend their territory aggressively. They are best kept in species-only tanks or with other peaceful Tanganyikan cichlids, such as Julidochromis or Lamprologus species. A well-planted tank with plenty of rocky structures and caves is essential for providing the hiding spots they need.
