Diet: Paracheirodon simulans, or the Green Neon Tetra, is an omnivorous species that will accept a wide variety of foods. In the wild, they feed on small invertebrates, plant matter, and detritus. In captivity, they thrive on high-quality flake food, pellets, and frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, and micro worms. To ensure a balanced diet, a combination of plant-based and protein-rich foods should be offered. They are excellent scavengers and will also forage for leftover food at the bottom of the tank.

Tankmates: Green Neon Tetras are peaceful and social fish that do best in groups of at least 6-8 individuals. They make great tankmates for other small, peaceful species such as other tetras, rasboras, Corydoras catfish, and shrimp. Larger or more aggressive fish should be avoided as they may harass the small, timid tetras. Like other tetras, they prefer a well-planted tank with plenty of hiding spots, such as plants and driftwood. They are best kept in community tanks where their bright coloration can be enjoyed without threat from more aggressive species.

Note: Paracheirodon simulans is often compared to the Neon Tetra due to its similar appearance, but the Green Neon Tetra has a more greenish-blue body with a vibrant turquoise stripe. These fish are known for their peaceful, schooling behavior and are a great addition to any aquarium that can provide a well-maintained environment. They thrive in slightly acidic to neutral water with stable parameters, so proper water quality is essential for their well-being.
