Diet: Phenacogrammus interruptus is an omnivorous fish that accepts a wide range of foods. In the wild, they feed on small invertebrates, plankton, and plant matter. In the aquarium, they thrive on high-quality flake food, pellets, and live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp, bloodworms, and daphnia. A varied diet that includes both protein and plant matter helps maintain their health and vibrant coloration.

Tankmates: The Congo Tetra is a peaceful, shoaling fish and should be kept in schools of at least 6-8 individuals. They do well in community tanks with other peaceful species like other tetras, rasboras, and small gouramis. These fish are not aggressive and typically avoid confrontation, preferring to swim in the middle and upper levels of the aquarium. It’s important to avoid aggressive tankmates that might stress or bully them, such as larger cichlids or predatory species. Providing plenty of plants, driftwood, and hiding spots will help them feel secure in the tank.
