Common name: Rasbora Merah

Origin: Southeast Asia, primarily found in Malaysia and Indonesia, particularly in the rivers and streams of the Borneo and Sumatra regions.

Optimal living conditions:

• Temperature: 24 - 28 °C
• pH: 6.0 - 7.5
• Aquarium size: 60 liters+ (a planted tank with open swimming areas)

Adult fish size: 4 - 5 cm

Diet: Omnivore. Feed a balanced diet of high-quality flake food, micro pellets, and live or frozen foods like brine shrimp, bloodworms, and daphnia. They will also graze on algae and plant matter in the tank.

Tankmates: Peaceful and social. Rasbora merah does well in schools of at least 6-8 individuals. They are best kept with other small, peaceful species such as tetras, danios, and other rasboras. Avoid keeping them with larger or more aggressive fish. These fish are very active and do best in a tank that has plenty of swimming space but also offers hiding spots for them to retreat to if needed.

Note: The Rasbora merah is a striking and vibrant species, with a brilliant red coloration that becomes more intense when kept in good water conditions and in groups. They are hardy and peaceful, making them an ideal choice for community aquariums. These active fish enjoy being in groups and will show their best colors when in a school. They are also quite adaptable to a variety of aquarium setups.
